THE WINTER GATHERING

A four-month seasonal journey to slow down, listen, rest & reconnect.

Come and spend some time coming back to yourself.

A season to slow down

There is something about this time of year that asks us to do things a little differently.

The days get shorter. The light changes. And gradually, the world around us begins to turn inward.

Nature doesn’t keep pushing forward all year round. There is a time for growth and expansion, and a time for slowing down, resting and gathering our energy.

Perhaps we can learn something from that.

Because we don’t have to keep moving at the same pace all year round.

And sometimes, particularly during perimenopause and the years around it, our bodies, energy, emotions and sense of ourselves begin to change.

The ways we’ve always lived, moved and cared for everyone else may no longer feel quite right. Yet life doesn’t necessarily slow down to meet us.

So how do we find the space to pause, listen and ask:

Who am I now?

Not who we used to be.
Not who we think we should be.

But who we are now, beneath the expectations, responsibilities and many roles we carry.

Perhaps the answer begins by coming back into the body.

By noticing what feels good, what doesn’t, when we need to move, when we need to rest and what our bodies might be trying to tell us.

The Winter Gathering is an invitation to explore these questions together.

Over four months, we’ll use movement, rest, Tradtional Chinese Medicine, reflection and connection to explore what it means to move through this season differently. There will be space to move, express ourselves, become still, listen to our bodies and notice what we need now.

Not because anything needs fixing, but because we deserve time to hear ourselves more clearly.

And we don’t have to do that alone.

What you might discover

Over the course of our time together, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Explore a rich mix of movement and embodied practices, including Qi Gong, Shake the Dust, somatic movement, dance, Pilates-style movement, Yin Yoga and breathwork, all giving you the opportunity to move, express yourself, rest and discover what feels right for you.

  • Feel more connected to your body and its changing needs.

  • Create space to pause, reflect and listen to yourself.

  • Explore what genuinely supports you during this season of life.

  • Give yourself permission to rest, receive but also to take up space.

  • Feel less alone through shared experience and meaningful connection with other women.

This isn’t about becoming a different person. It’s about making more space for the person you are now.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO NAVIGATE THIS SEASON ALONE

// WE ARE BETTER TOGETHER //

YOU DON'T HAVE TO NAVIGATE THIS SEASON ALONE // WE ARE BETTER TOGETHER //

Four months. One seasonal journey.

Rather than meeting once and moving on, The Winter Gathering gives us somewhere to return to throughout the season.

Each month has its own quality, taking us through a gradual journey from movement and expression to stillness, rest and reflection. Together, these Gatherings create space to spend time with ourselves and one another, noticing what changes as the season unfolds.

Sometimes, before we can truly settle into rest, we need to move. To wake up the body, shift our energy and give ourselves space to express what’s there. From there, we can gradually come into stillness, listen inwardly and notice what we need.

We’ll meet in person in October, November and January, with a gentle online gathering in December to stay connected through the heart of winter.

You’re warmly invited to join us for the full seasonal journey, or choose one or two Gatherings if you can’t make every date.

The journey begins in October…

October

SLOW DOWN

Where am I?

Autumn is a season of gathering inward, of refining and letting go, something we can see reflected in nature as the trees begin to shed their leaves.

It invites us to ask what we might be ready to let go of.

Perhaps it's the pressure to keep doing things as we always have, the expectations we place on ourselves, or the feeling that we should keep going regardless of what our bodies are telling us.

Autumn also brings our attention back to the breath, to what we take in and what we let go of, to receiving and releasing.

We'll begin our first Gathering by shaking the dust off, moving, breathing, dancing playing and allowing the body to release some of what it's been carrying. We'll explore Qi Gong, somatic movement, Pilates-style movement, gradually waking up the body and creating space to move, breathe and reconnect.

Then Clare will guide us through gentle breathwork, blending science-backed explanations with guided experiences.

"You've been breathing your whole life. But how much do you really know about the way you breathe and the impact it can have on how you feel?"

From there, we’ll gradually move towards quieter practices, rest and reflection.
A chance to arrive, make some space and begin listening to where we really are.

You’ll have time to reconnect with your body and breath, settle into the season and leave feeling a little more grounded and present.

November

LISTEN

What might I hear when I become quiet enough to listen?

As autumn deepens, the invitation is to become a little quieter, to notice what feels essential, what matters to us and what we may no longer need to carry.

There is also something to be said for the wisdom we gain from one another.

For generations, women have gathered together to share stories, offer guidance and pass on what they have learned through their own lives, yet somewhere along the way many of us have lost that thread.

Perhaps we're not always meant to navigate every season of life alone. Perhaps we need spaces where we can listen to women who have walked parts of the path before us and share what we are learning, too.

By November, we'll already have begun this journey together. We'll know the space, recognise some familiar faces and have started to build a sense of connection.

We’ll begin with movement, including Shake the Dust, Qi Gong, dance, body weight movement, before gradually moving into Yin, rest and stillness.

Monique will share something of her own experience of menopause, something women have specifically asked to hear more about. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions, share experiences and explore some of the things that can feel difficult to navigate during this season of life.

She'll then offer short individual Reiki, while I guide the rest of the group through a gentle meditation. As Monique works with each woman individually, the rest of us can settle into stillness, creating a shared space for rest, reflection and receiving.

You’ll have the opportunity to hear perspectives, ask questions, share experiences and feel more connected to yourself and the women around you.

December

REST

What happens when we give ourselves permission to pause?

By December, the year is beginning to draw to a close.

There can be so much pressure at this time of year to keep going, finish everything, make plans, show up for everyone else and somehow fit more into an already-full season.

But winter offers us a different invitation.

A chance to soften, receive and rest.

Rather than gathering in person, we’ll meet online for a gentle 45-minute Winter Pause, a little space to step away from the busyness and turn our attention back towards ourselves.

There’ll be movement, rest, reflection and time to connect with one another.

Nothing to achieve. No need to arrive with anything figured out.

Just an opportunity to take a breath, settle in and honour what you need as winter deepens.

You’ll have time to step away from the busyness of the season, reconnect with what you need and experience rest without having to earn it.

January

RECONNECT

What am I returning to, and what do I want to carry with me?

As we move into January, there can be so much talk of fresh starts, new goals and becoming a better version of ourselves.

But this isn't about New Year, New You.

Instead, it's an opportunity to pause and notice what has unfolded over the past few months.

What have you discovered about yourself? What have you begun to listen to? What feels different? And what do you want to carry with you into the months ahead?

We'll begin with Shake the Dust, bringing movement, music and a little playfulness into the room while awakening our energy and reconnecting with the body. We'll then move into Yin, rest and reflection, allowing space to settle, integrate and simply be.

There'll be plenty of time to come together in conversation, too, to share how we've experienced the journey, what we've noticed along the way and whether anything has shifted in how we relate to ourselves, our bodies or our changing needs. And, of course, there'll be time to chat, laugh and celebrate the connections we've made.

No list of resolutions. Nothing to achieve.

You’ll have space to reflect on what has unfolded, celebrate what you’ve discovered and consider what you want to carry forward.

What happens when we gather

Each month has its own focus, but the thread running through the Winter Gathering remains the same. Movement, rest, reflection, connection and space to simply be.

The practices we move through together are loosely rooted in an old seasonal way of understanding the body, something I've studied for a few years and weave through each Gathering. You don't need to know any of it to feel the benefit of it. It's simply there in the background, gently informing each Gathering as we move through the season.

Sometimes we spend so much time trying to think our way through things. But the body has its own wisdom too, and through movement we can begin to notice what feels good, what doesn't, when we need to move and when we need to rest. Over time, this awareness can begin to travel beyond the Gathering, helping us trust our own responses in everyday life.

You don't need to be experienced in any of these practices, and you certainly don't need to arrive knowing what you need. You can simply come as you are.

A little thread between us

The Winter Gathering isn't only about the time we spend together in the room.

Between our Gatherings, there'll be a gentle online thread to help us stay connected, a small number of practices, reflections and invitations to dip into at home whenever they feel useful. There won't be homework, and there won't be another thing you need to complete. It's simply there if you'd like a little extra support between Gatherings.

And in December, our online Winter Pause will give us a chance to come together when the days are at their darkest, a little space to slow down and find some stillness amongst the busyness of the season.

The women you’ll share this season with

Most women arrive not knowing a single other person in the room. That's completely normal, and it never stays that way for long.

My hope is by the end of our time together, you may find that you’re leaving with a few familiar faces, new connections and a sense that you’re part of something.
