MOVING WITH ENERGY
An autumn exploration of Qi Gong, Traditional Chinese Medicine & movement
What if you could play with how energy moves through your body?
Gather. Open. Disperse. Contain. Focus.
Come and see what changes when you bring a different intention to the way you move.
No right way. Nothing to get right. Just curiosity.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU PLAY WITH ENERGY?
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Qi is often described as the vital energy or life force of the body, its the movement and activity that allows life to happen.
Qi is not something we need to see or measure to explore it.
We can become curious about how it feels.
The difference between forcing and flowing.
Between feeling stuck and feeling spacious.
Between reaching out and drawing back in.
In Qi Gong, we explore these qualities through movement, breath, attention and intention.
Rather than simply talking about energy, we’ll play with it through movement.
What happens when you move with the intention to gather, open, disperse or contain?
How does the movement feel when you change its quality or direction?
There isn’t a right answer.
The invitation is simply to notice what you experience.
CURIOUS TO EXPLORE IT?

A PRACTICE FOR THE SEASON
Autumn has its own quality.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, it is associated with the Metal element with gathering inward, creating space, refinement and letting go.
Rather than spending the workshop learning about these ideas, we’ll explore them through movement.
What does it feel like to gather?
What happens when you create space in your body and energy?
What changes when energy moves outwards, and then returns?
The season becomes a gentle backdrop for our exploration, as we move between expansion and containment, movement and stillness.
FROM MOVEMENT INTO STILLNESS
We’ll move between more dynamic Qi Gong, somatic movement and the quieter practice of Yin.
Sometimes we'll move with more expression and energy; sometimes we'll draw everything inward.
As the movement becomes softer, we begin to notice what happens in stillness.
The movement becomes quieter, but the exploration continues.
COME CURIOUS
This workshop is open to everyone. No previous experience is needed.
You might be curious about Qi Gong, somatic movement or Traditional Chinese Medicine.
You might be drawn to exploring movement through sensation, energy and awareness.
Or perhaps you're a yoga teacher or movement practitioner curious about another lens on movement.
You don't need to know anything about Qi Gong.
Just come curious.
FOR YOGA TEACHERS & MOVEMENT PRACTITIONERS
If you already work with breath, sensation, awareness and anatomy, Qi Gong offers another lens through which to explore movement.
One that considers energy, intention and the quality of movement.
This workshop is an opportunity to experience some of these principles for yourself and to start noticing what they might open up in your own practice and teaching.
What might change when you bring an energetic lens to the way you move?
